The open cluster IC 2602 is sometimes called the Southern Pleiades. Like its more famous counterpart, binoculars reveal many more stars than the naked eye. NGC 2516 is another open cluster as are NGC 2808 and NGC 3114. All of these are best viewed with binoculars. NGC 3372 is the famous Eta Carinae Nebula, a large, bright nebula surrounding the mysterious variable star eta Carinae. The nebula can be seen with the naked eye. Finally, binoculars reveal the full glory of the open cluster NGC 3532 although it too is visible to the naked eye.
